How To Prepare For Your First Meeting With San Diego Law Firm

We are aware that meeting with attorneys can sometimes be daunting the first time. At San Diego Law Firm we want you to be comfortable and refreshed by the experience. Considering the following suggestions will help make our first meeting smooth and will build a stronger relationship between us from the very beginning.

Prepare to Discuss Your Objectives

There are two types of objectives you should look at when preparing to meet with us: Short-term and long-term. Your ability to articulate some of your key objectives will enhance the effectiveness of our meeting and get our relationship off to a great start. If we understand your intentions, goals and desires we will be more able to anticipate your needs and respond quickly. We may even be able to anticipate needs that you haven't yet considered, so this exercise can be very valuable. Here are some things to consider when thinking about your objectives:

    Short-term
Short-term objectives generally center on the specific issue or purpose for our meeting. They are concise and focused on the task at hand. Try to put together two or three succinctly worded objectives. Here are some questions to aid you in this:
    • What is the best possible outcome for this situation? What is the worst? What do you hope to accomplish?
    • What are your conditions for satisfaction? In other words, what end results or outcomes would put the matter to rest for you?

    Long-term
Long-term objectives take a much longer and more encompassing view than short-term objectives. For businesses, long-term objectives generally revolve around the business and its future. Again, you should try to come up with two or three concisely worded objectives, but these will have a wider scope. Consider the following when designing long-term objectives:

    • What do you want your business to do for you? Where is it headed? Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 years? 10 years?
    • What is your strategy for getting out of the business when the time comes?
